Debut: January 2004 (Appeared with other WWRV "Invaders" at High Stakes. Chokeslammed Sam Bratton out
of the ring and through a table.)
Career Highlights: Longest reigning United States Champion in SWF history, 2x SWF
Champion
The older, more mysterious brother of SWF superstar Pouncy, Kirby is perhaps one of the most feared superstars
in the SWF. He was already a big star in the WWRV before the company “invaded” the SWF, when most fans were introduced
to him, and he made a big impression by chokeslamming Sam Bratton out of the ring through a table.
Shortly after, Kirby
won the United States Championship, holding onto it for a full year. In fact, during that year, no one defeated the big man.
During that time, he violently turned his back on his brother, aligning himself with the Deadly Alliance and, under their
command, tearing a wide berth through the SWF. Eventually though, Kirby came to be seen as a threat by Daniel Santoy, and
Santoy made sure Kirby lost his United States Championship at Game Over, only to be defeated later on to hand Kirby his first
SWF title reign.
Kirby’s second title reign was even more violent than the first. In the weeks leading up to
Capitol Punishment, Kyle Andrews and Chas Dohanich were set to face off for the #1 Contendership, but Kevin Martin took out
Andrews. As his replacement, Jackie Blue appointed Kirby, who decisively defeated Dohanich and went on to face Sam Bratton
at the CPV. That match was great, and Kirby won the title for the second time, but it was the following month at Fanning the
Flames that things really heated up.
Kirby was set to defend the title against Bratton in his championship rematch,
but Jackie Blue decided more fuel was needed for this feud. She set the match as the SWF’s first ever Inferno Match,
where the only way to win was to set your opponent on fire. The two men battled it out, and Kirby came away victorious, putting
Bratton on the shelf for several months.
Over the course of the next few months, Kirby would defend his title against
several luminaries of the SWF, and he would even be victorious in the annual Champion of Champions match at Dark Horizon.
During this time, he took on Cole VanZant as his “representative,” but that decision would prove costly. In the
build up to Mind Games VII, Kirby’s opponent Kyle Andrews brutally attacked VanZant. That drew the ire of the SWF Champion,
who made their match at Mind Games a Hell in a Cell match.
That match proved to be epic to gigantic proportions, but
Kirby ultimately did not win the day, finally falling to Andrews. Knowing he’s never been far from the SWF title picture
though, Andrews has to be looking over his shoulder for the green monster…
