Jay Curry will forever be a source of inspiration for SWF rookies
everywhere. He debuted in December 2009 amidst little fanfare. The older brother of longtime Femme division competitor Amber
Curry, Jay spent his first few months facing other unknowns in dark matches. That is, until the match that changed his career's
course almost instantly.
At High Stakes 2010, Jay Curry entered the annual High Stakes
match and came away with the victory, dumping Christopher Michaels over the top rope and gaining a title shot against Sam
Bratton at Mind Games within his first 6 months of active competition! While he would lose that match with Bratton, he definitely
caught the attention of the SWF fans, who began getting behind the Silsbee native in every arena.
Jay would parlay his early success into a shot at the newly reminted
Intercontinental Championship, held at the time by Juan Valderaz. The two would have several matches, with Jay finally emerging
victorious. However, his first career title reign would be cut short by Kevin Martin at Mind Games 7, his second event, as
Martin defeated him for the championship.
